Swedish clothing company H&M was one of the first contemporary stores to work with with high-end fashion designers. There have been seven collaborations thus far with the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney and the Jimmy Choo label.
Sonia Rykiel’s lingerie collaboration with H&M was a huge success and her knitwear collection will be hitting 200 H&M stores today. The collection is full of bright colors and has a fun Parisian flair.

I was enthusastic yet anxious to attend Jane Birkin’s concert Feb 12th at the French Institute Alliance Française in the city. Enthuastic because Jane Birkin is a fashion icon and muse over the decades to some of the best fashion designers and musicians, including Serge Gainsbourg of course. Anxious because I didn’t know quite what to expect sitting in a small, intimate theater listening to lyrics sung in French. What I found out is that her voice was whispery and almost frail sounding, which matches her waif-like figure and cropped pixie hair style. I was not expecting her to wear mens baggy tweed trousers with a suede keeper, a loose untucked white button down shirt with the sleeves half rolled/shoved up her thin arms, a matching tweed unbuttoned vest, and a loose tie. The masculininty and oversized garments accentuated her ultra petite frame. However, despite her initial appearance and the sound of her voice, what became clear throughout the concert was her strength and openess to the human experience. She pulled the audience in close to her heart, showing her vulernability and the humaness we all share.
Check out her music and enjoy some pics that capture the icon over the years.
Excited to hit the city with my girls for a fun night out. What to wear? Browse the racks of clothes in my closet for the third time. Nothing inspires me. Gotta buy something that will fit my fantastic mood! Where to go for a great dress? BCBG of course. Here are a few great dresses from BCBG.

What do Gwen Stefani and Fergie have in common? They both have amazing music careers in bands and as solo artists, and they are both fashion rock goddesses who have their own fashion lines, L.A.M.B and Fergie Shoes respecitively. Rock hard abs showcased with midriff tops? Check.
Gwen’s style has evolved from the 90’s punk/ska No Doubt vibe to a more glammed up style with the release of her solo album Love.Angel.Music.Baby, with Harajuku girls at hip.
Fergie’s rock style has a more overt sexuality, with black or red being a staple color. She’s got the thigh high sexy boots look down. Hmm… maybe I need to invest in Suzanne Somers ThighMaster.

WYL Embellished Sleeveless Tee, $88 Bloomingdales
Skinny jeans + Drapey top + Heels = Hot Outfit.
This go-to perfect formula is nothing new. However, my new obsession is a top with sequin shoulders. Throw on a cuff or bangle bracelets and grab your clutch and you are good to go!

I love shoes. I adore boots. There are so many types to consider when purchasing a perfect pair of boots:
Height of heel (flats, mid-heel, ultra high-heel), Height of boot (bootie, ankle, mid-calf, knee, over-the-knee!), Color (black, a million different browns and greys), Fabric (leather, suede, mixed media, patent), Vibe (rocker to sexy to classic, etc).
[sigh]
And then of course, there’s the topic of what you can afford that won’t break the bank. My inspiration board includes my “wish list” of boots this season – all under $200!
When I attended F.I.T. in New York City, I did not know one single person in the city or the entire state. I was lucky enough to be assigned three fabulous roomates to my dorm, and one of my suitemates was Dana-Maxx, a fashion design student. We became fast friends and I really admired her design aesthetic, dedication, and unique talent. As soon as college graduation, Dana-Maxx quickly asserted herself as a well-respected and much sought after designer launching her own label called Dana-Maxx. Her line is for young women who are confident, playful, and classy yet with a fashion forward edge. She recently had a fashion showing in New York City’s trendy Meatpacking District. Check out her website and a few pics from her line, enjoy!

Sure, the harem pant and the maxi dress still made their way into a few of those fab designer’s runway shows but it was the shortest shorts, dresses, skirts that caught my eye in many of the shows… Six whole months to go until my legs will be back on display. Hmmm, maybe I should hire that personal trainer now?! esh!
